Hello,
This is my first time on this forum so bear with my ignorance! I'll outline the background to my setup and then explain the error.
We have a small business with a server running SBS2011 and PC's running Windows 8 and 8.1 connected to the server in a domain environment.
We are using a CRM product called Tall Emu which uses SQL Server 2008 R2 on the server for the database and the PC's run a local application which connects to this database.
Every day, but completely randomly and sometimes multiple times per day, a user will try and open the application on a PC and get the following error message.
Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.SqlServer.SqlEnum, Version=10.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=89845dcd8080cc91' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.
At first I thought it must be a timeout issue as it seemed to happen every morning but I have since proved that it happens any time of day and seemingly bears no connection to amount of users logged in or idle time or anything like that.
Another quirk which hopefully sheds some light on it is this; if I go to the server and open the CRM application on the server it works fine from there so it is only the PC's that have the connection issue. Also, as soon as I have logged in at the server any PC can log in immediately (until it happens again later in the day). I don't need to remain logged in at the server, just connect once and log out and it 'fixes' it for a few hours for all PC users.
I have contacted the CRM provider and they are completely stumped and don't have any idea what to do.
We are limping along at the moment with me logging into the server to kick start it whenever a user gets the error message but it is far from satisfactory.
One final observation is that it has not always done this. It used to work fine. The issue started two months ago exactly and seemed to coincide with increasing our user license from 5 to 12 users although the CRM provider swears that it is nothing to do with licensing. They may be right; I don't know enough to argue the point.
Any assistance will be appreciated! I am sure it will be a simple fix and someone out there will know the reason and the answer immediately but it is eluding us at the moment.
