Hello,

Problem installing SQL Server Express 2014 in Windows 10 Pro.

I downloaded the version with Tools from this url

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/confirmation.aspx?id=42299&6B49FDFB-8E5B-4B07-BC31-15695C5A2143=1

I get the following error many times: (with Install_Watson module, Install_VCRuntime, ....)

Here you have the part of the log where the error happens:

After looking it I see clearly the problem happens when the setups executes DW20SHARED.MSI installer.çç

I have executed alone DW20SHARED.MSI and in fact I get the same message.

Any idea of what could be happening, with this MSI installer? Is an incompatibility with Windows 10?

Product: Microsoft Application Error Reporting -- Installation failed. Installing SQL Server 2014 Express

Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 64 bit is giving me trouble installing applications from msi. I originally am trying to install SQL Server 2014 Express but it errors on Windows Application Error Reporting application and other components required. As result, I tried to install the components individually but get same error. I am using local 'Administrator' account and still using the Run As Administrator for the Command Prompt.  From elevated Command Prompt, the following log is displayed after running   'msiexec /i dw20shared.msi /lv Log.txt

Any ideas?      No antivirus is installed, UAC is disabled, Windows Updates are current, and no other issues discovered with the server.

SQL LocalDB does not start automatically anymore in Windows 10

Hi, just upgraded from win7 to win10. I have an application developed with vs2013 community and MS SQL2012 which uses localdb v11.0  and has worked perfectly, however since the win10 upgrade, the instance will not start automatically. I can start it manually using the SQLLocalDB command line utility, and everything works when in the VS IDE or running the application until the instance 'times out' and is therefore not a practical solution. I have searched and tried the 'fixes' identified in previous posts relating to win 8 etc. but still no luck. Has anyone got a suggestion how I can get this working again, I don't my users are going to be happy if they upgrade!!

ASP.Net Version Registration Requirement

64-bit ASP.Net is Registered. Required 32-bit ASP.Net to install Microsoft Reporting Services 2005(32-bit).

Does this mean that I can't install Reporting Services or should I pay no attention to it and continue to install?

I'm running on Windows 64-bit Pro. edition.

Thanks,

Eric

The server was not found or was not accessible. verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connection, (provider: SQL Network interfaces, error 26 - Error Locating Server/ Instance Specified)

And when I try to repair the Microsoft SQL Server express 2012 Installation, I have this message error:

Struggling with what DB to use

Let me describe what I want to do:

1. I have an application that runs on a Win10 Tablet and that creates data I want to collect in a database.

2. I want to transfer (copy/paste) this database to my PC to run an application that uses this database for reporting purposes.

3. I am even considering to upload and access such a DB on a server. However, as server access is not reliable/guaranteed, I still would need the additional local options described above.

Recommendations would be very much appreciated.

Sql Server Express and "remote" SSIS capabilities

$

I know that SQL Server Express (2014) only supports simple Import\Export not a full SSIS implementation. But can it be used to create sophisticated packages onanother server running, say,  Sql 2014 Standard edition? (In other words can Express be used as "client" to create packages on a backend server, using the full SSIS resources of the backend server)

TIA,

Change SQL Express LocalDB Database Structure in Visual Studio Project

$

Hello,

I have a VS2013 project, (WPF, C#), that has a .mdf file that I use for the application.  I'm using SQL Express 2012 LocalDB.  I'm using Entity Framework 6.

I created the DB in the project by -> Add New Item -> Service-based Database.

I then added my Tables with the appropriate fields, relationships and so forth.

I then added Add New Item -> ADO.NET Entity Data Model -> EF Designer from database

obviously selecting the database I created above.

Everything works great.  So I deploy me application to end users using Flexera InstallShield.

Everything works.

So here is the question.  If I make a structural change to the Database, (e.g. Add a field/column to a table, or add a new table), how do I get this database change down to the end users database, that have already installed my application, without deleting or stepping on their existing data?

Thank you in advance.

Get MAX()+1 on three server database

$

Hi,

I have 3 Servers with with same Table structure.

Example:

Server1 name: GVVabc.123.com

Database: EmpDBI

Table Name:  emp

Server2 name: GVVabc.345.com

Database: EmpDBE

Table Name:  emp

Server3 name: GVVabc.678.com

Database: EmpDBF

Table Name:  emp

I want to find Max(empid)+1 from all 3 different server database. Can we write a single Query like we are using COLASCE() on multiple columns. I cannot create stored procedure on my project. i am looking a Query to find max(id)

example

EmpDBI.Emp EMpDBE.Emp EmpDBF.Emp

1 1 1

2 2

3 3

                                     4

Now am running Max(empid)+1 query

 on EmpDBE.emp connection.

here result should be 5 (after checking max(empId) from 3 server database.

Could you please help me ?
